The living reality of migrants in Castel Volturno (CE) oscillates between 8000 and 10000 people. From a demographic point of view, the Domitiana coast gives the distinct impression of a piece of Africa transplanted into Italy. The migrants come to this area due to the job opportunities offered by the food preserve companies based there. Without this fundamental workforce the local economy of this entire business sector would not exist. Immigration however, is not only an economic asset that can be measured in terms of low-cost workforce, but on the other hand, a fundamental component of the social and cultural lifestyle now present within this part of the province of Caserta. The migrants have re-formulated a new socio-cultural organization of urban space.
